The Freeman-ASIA application cycle for Summer 2020, Fall 2020, Spring 2021, and Academic Year 2020-21 will open on February 10, and the application deadline is April 6, 2020.

 The annual MLK Day of Service is coming up on Saturday, January 25, and the sign up is now open!

There will be a variety of local community organizations where students can give back during this important event. The event includes breakfast and lunch, an MLK Week t-shirt, and a service reflection to follow the event.

Volunteers need to be available for the event from 8:30 - 3:30pm

Once upon a time there was a student we’ll call “Floyd.”  Floyd elected to take a class S/D/F, which he thought meant the same thing as “Pass/Fail.”  Floyd did just enough work to barely pass the class.  To his dismay, he got a “D” in the class, which lowered his GPA.  Don’t be like Floyd!

Seats are still available for “Introduction to Chinese Culture,” HIST 215, which meets MW at 4 pm. The course provides an overview of China's political changes, social formations, and cultural developments from earliest times to the present day. Major topics include religions, arts, state and society, gender, and revolutions. The course counts for the ICC themes of Identities.

Chrystyna Dail, Associate Professor of Theatre History, published the article, "Front Doors as National Borders: Immigrated Performances and Ukrainian Vertep" in Volume 72 of Theatre Annual: A Journal of Theatre and Performance in the Americas. Dail's essay explores how amateur Vertep performances by Ukrainian immigrants keep cultural traditions alive in the sanctity of their North American homes. Additionally, Dail introduces and theorizes the term 'immigrated performance' to conceptualize traditions that in transitioning from one culture to another preserve and affirm their culture of origin, while seeking to redefine cultural identity for their participants in the context of their new, adopted nation.

The Office of Judicial Affairs is seeking Faculty Justices who are interested in serving on Student Conduct Review Board hearings regarding cases of alleged sexual misconduct, domestic/dating violence, and stalking.
