Professor Kathleen Mulligan (Theatre Arts) was selected to participate in the seminar "Arts, Culture, and Transforming Conflict", sponsored by World Learning AlumniTies in Santa Fe, New Mexico December 10-13, 2019. Mulligan was among 39 alumni participants from various U.S. State Department exchange programs.

Paul Dickson (Computer Science) gave the keynote address for the ACM SIGCSE Chapter Launch held at the UCD School of Computer Science, Ireland on December 11th. Dr. Dickson’s address was “Timeless Lessons from Teaching Programming, or Not”

 Faculty and staff are invited to join their colleagues at the end-of-year gathering on Thursday, December 19, in the Emerson Suites. Come enjoy refreshments, music and a dance floor. Be sure to get your ticket at the door and enter the annual drawing for your chance to win a themed basket. Winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m.

We do ask that you RSVP, so we can plan our food and drink wisely. Faculty and staff who RSVP will receive a drink ticket. There will be a cash bar if you care to purchase additional beer, wine, or mixed drinks. Soda, water, and other non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.  

Jenna Heffron, PhD, OTR/L (HSHP; Occupational Therapy) recently published a systematic review on community participation interventions for people with stroke. The article was published in the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She co-authored the review with researchers from the University of Washington and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

The on-campus Food Pantry will be open this week on  Tuesday December 17th from 6-7 pm and Friday December 20th from 4-5:30pm. Fall hours will be every Tuesday from 6-7 pm and every Friday from 4-5:30 pm.  

*Spring hours will be Tuesdays from 6-7pm and Fridays from 4-5:30 pm.  

The Pantry is located in the DeMotte Room (you can enter by going down the stairs to the left of the information desk in Phillips Hall or by using the back entrance to Phillips Hall closest to the upper quads and near the stairs that up to the academic quad). The Pantry is open to any and all members of the IC community. There are no qualifications for this program.

Due to the College's winter break, time cards for the pay period December 9 - December 22, must be submitted and approved by close of business on Monday, December 16.  Any time cards not submitted and approved by this date might not be processed in time for payment on Friday, December 27, 2019.

On Friday, December 13, Provost La Jerne Terry Cornish sent a message to the campus community on the topic of Student Voices and Our Campus Climate.

As students are visiting the hallways of Dillingham Center to view the shared statements of their peers, and to share their own campus experiences inside and outside of the classroom around issues of race, gender, and sexual violence, the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Life would like to continue to offer our support.

Throughout this finals week, if you are looking for a space to process, to be in community, or simply to talk through campus experiences and resources, staff from the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life; the Center for LGBT Education, Outreach, and Services; and the Center for IDEAS are making themselves available for you.
