On behalf of the entire campus community, I would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies and prayers to the family, friends, and colleagues of Ithaca Fund director David Wilkins, who passed away unexpectedly this past Friday at the age of 48. David had led the college’s annual giving program in the Division of Institutional Advancement since 2009. He was a wonderful colleague and we will miss him very much.

On January 22, the USPS will raise nearly all of its postage rates. First Class letter stamps, in particular, will be going up 1 cent. However letter stamps are now almost all Forever, meaning they are good for whatever the current rate is.

The National Orchestral Institute and Festival (NOI) will be holding auditions in Rochester, on February 4, for its 25th anniversary season this coming June at the University of Maryland.  This year, Consultant to the School of Music for Leadership and Entrepreneurship, Jim Undercofler, will be serving as its Guest Artistic Curator.  In addition to shaping the artistic elements of NOI, Jim will be conducting a seminar in music entrepreneurship during the Festival.  Orchestral players interested in reshaping the future of the orchestra industry are urged to apply and audition.  For more information (www.noi.umd.edu).

At the Type or Tweet on Saturday, January 28, students, staff, faculty, and community members are invited to express themselves using words, much like MLK, Jr. did in his letter from Birmingham Jail.  The event will span generations, from typewriters to twitter accounts.  Music and food will add to the lively atmosphere of this event!

In addition, this event will provide an opportunity to participate in a 'Purposeful Sharing' activity in which students can choose to share their thoughts on the Type or Tweet stage.  Interested students can enter a submission here for consideration.
