January 29th the Ithaca Softball team will be hosting their 3rd annual Championship Softball clinic in the Athletic and Events Center. Looking for a last minute present for your favorite Potter fan? Then come to the Harry Potter Alliance's table in the North Foyer to pick up some AWESOME Potter-inspired jewelry, ornaments, pillows, and MORE! We will also have the first round of Yule Ball tickets available for purchase at a limited-time-only lowered price of $8. After break the prices go up to $10 and then $12 at the door (if we have tickets left). 

Tabling days and times: December 12th, 14th, and 16th from 10am to 3pm in the North Foyer of Campus Center. 

In the Harry Potter books, the Yule Ball was a mid-winter dance to celebrate the Triwizard tournament. Our Yule Ball will be a charity concert and dance held in Emerson Suites to raise money for the Finger Lakes Land Trust, which is an environmental organization based in Ithaca. 

The event will be open to the public! RSVP to our event page.

The night will begin with a wizard rock concert from 7pm to 9pm featuring wizard rock artists The Whomping Willows and Lauren Fairweather. Following the concert there will be a DJ and dance from 9pm to midnight. Two events, one ticket!

Ticket Prices:
$8 before winter break 
$10 after winter break and online
$12 at the door

We will begin selling tickets at the $8 price on December 12th, 14th, and 16th from 10am to 3pm in the North Foyer of Campus Center. Tickets will be available online for people not in the Ithaca area soon after the 16th.

As the College's licensing and trademark enforcement program continues to evolve, the Office of Marketing Communications has made a few changes to further refine and strengthen the brand. The program was established in July to protect Ithaca College's name, reputation and identity. It requires that both on-campus and off-campus organizations gain approval through the licensing program in order to use the College's name, logos, nickname, and other protected terms (Ithaca College, IC, Bomber(s), Bomber nation, Ithaca [club/organization name/1892]) on any product.

Jeffery Meyer, Director of Orchestras, and the Ithaca College Chamber Orchestra (ICCO) will perform music by Vivaldi and Beethoven and feature the North American premiere of Laura Kaminsky’s Concerto for Piano and Chamber Orchestra, a joint commission by the ICCO and the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic (St. PCP). Meyer, who is director of orchestras at Ithaca College, conducts both ensembles. Renowned pianist Ursula Oppens is soloist in the Kaminsky concerto. The concert at 8 p.m. in Ford Hall is free and open to the public.  Kaminsky will be available to speak with composers 12/8 from 7-8:30pm and conduct a piano masterclass 12/9 from 5-6:30pm. 

Meyer said, "It is an extraordinary opportunity to collaborate with Ursula Oppens, who is such a distinguished and important figure in American new music, as well as composer Laura Kaminsky, who wrote this concerto specifically for Oppens, the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic and the Ithaca College Chamber Orchestra."

The mail rooms have an abundance of unclaimed packages.  Have you checked your mail box recently?  Within the past week?  Within the past month?  Ever?  You may have a pink card notification to pick up a package at your mail room.
Package pick up service at mail rooms will end on 12/16/11.  Unclaimed packages will be returned to the Mail Center.

ITS and a faculty advisory group are currently evaluating 3 student response systems (clickers) to replace the eInstruction PRS system, which is being discontinued.  The 3 finalists are coming to campus to give live demonstrations of their products.  Anyone in the Ithaca College campus community is invited to attend any or all of the following live vendor demonstrations.  There will be an opportunity to ask questions and provide online feedback.

Congratulations to Govind Acharya, Research Analyst in the Office of Institutional Research, for his recent poster presentation at the 2011 North East Association for Institutional Research Conference.  His presentation on the IC Survey Clearinghouse provided insights about the challenges and opportunities (technological and institutional) of creating an all-college survey clearinghouse.

 Come hang out at the TC Lounge (14th Floor of East Tower) Tuesday, December 13th at 8pm!
