The Politics Department and as part of a new seminar being offered this Fall semester “Race, Class and Geographies of Housing” is hosting a public screening of an important film “Decade of Fire” by co-directors and co-producers Vivian Vázquez Irizarry and Gretchen Hildebran.

Discussion will follow on the various themes and critical questions raised by the film moderated by Prof. Carlos Figueroa, (Politics). Watch the trailer here.

To ensure security updates are effectively applied to Ithaca College computers, changes are needed in our Windows Update settings. Starting December 5th, IC Windows desktops and laptops will automatically download and install available Microsoft updates, and will restart outside of “active hours” when doing so is needed for updates to take effect.

Due to the Thanksgiving break, timecards for the bi-weekly pay period November 11th through November 22nd, must be submitted and approved by supervisors no later than Monday, November 25th.  To ensure your timecard has been submitted correctly and approved by your supervisor, your timecard can be viewed under “Recent Timecards” in Parnassus. Supervisors, please follow up with your employees to be sure they have submitted their timecards and that you have approved it as timecards not submitted and approved by November 25th might not be processed in time for payment on Friday, November 29.  Please contact the Office of Human Resources at 607-274-8000 if you have any questions.

These winners will be submitted to the Northeast regional affiliate of the National Association for College and University Residence Halls.

The Friends 110 computer lab and workspace will be open with 24/7 self-service printing during Thanksgiving Break from Saturday, November 23rd to Wednesday, November 27th at 3:00pm.

The lab will then close Thursday, November 28th through Saturday, November 30th. 24/7 access will resume on Sunday December 1st at 3:00pm.

Support our first-year students in the ICSM program by attending the Third Annual Ithaca Seminar Symposium between 12 noon and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, in Emerson Suites. Nearly 400 students will present traditional poster sessions, give individual readings, and share group/individual presentations.

Aaron Weinberg, Professor of Mathematics, presented "Identifying Students' Attentive Fidelity for Calculus Instructional Videos" at the 41st annual conference of the North American Chapter of the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education, held November 14-17, 2019.  This was collaborative work done with several investigators including Matt Thomas (Assistant Professor of Math) and students Jessica Tornai '20 and Kimberly Newman '19.

Cristina Gomez, Associate Professor of Math and Education, gave a presentation at the Fall Conference of the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New York State on Saturday, November 16, in Rochester, NY.   The 60-minute presentation was titled "Organizing a Math Fair".

Apple released macOS Catalina (version 10.15) on October 7th. Because this operating system is so new and it has the potential for unexpected problems or software incompatibility, IT is blocking the install of Catalina on College-owned computers for now. Please note that the blocking mechanism is less intuitive than we would like, as it appears as if it is downloading the upgrade, but will not allow the installation.
