Even the most dedicated exercisers often underestimate the importance of a proper warm up and cool down - both are critical to an effective fitness program. Warm ups prepare your muscles for exercise by raising your body temperature, increasing heart rate, and encouraging blood flow to the muscles. Simply stated, a warm muscle is ready and able to work! Proper cool down will decrease heart rate and blood pressure gradually which is healthier for your cardiovascular system. Skipping the cool down phase increases your chances of experiencing dizziness, light-headedness, and even fainting.

 IC After Dark hosts its most amazing Halloween event to date, PanIC Attack, from 9pm-12am on October 30th in Emerson Suites and IC Square.

There will be:

-A Costume Contest

-Halloween Themed Activities

-Delicious Food

-A Terrifying Haunted Maze

-Amazing Prizes that include the chance to win KID CUDI TICKETS or an iPOD!

Those are just a few things going on. There will be SO MUCH MORE at the actual event, but you have to come to see for yourselves!

What you could do is join Audrey's House, the Ithaca College organization committed to rebuilding post-Katrina New Orleans and spreading awareness about issues continuing to face New Orleans.

We meet Wednesdays at 8 p.m. in Friends 205. Come TONIGHT to learn about getting involved with our next fundraiser, a tie-dye party, and our upcoming events, like a possible teach-in.

The eighth annual Veterans Day Celebration will be held at noon on Thursday, November 11, in Ford Hall in the Whalen Center for Music.  Members of the Ithaca College community are encouraged to join in the College salute to those who serve. 

Thomas Rochon, President, will provide a welcome address at the ceremony. The IC Brass Choir, conducted by Andrew Benware, and IC Voices, conducted by Susan Avery, will perform.

Thank you to the many students, staff and faculty members who attended the OSEMA Open House last week!  It truly was the premier event of the year.

John Confer presented on Reintroducing the California Conder in Northern Arizona and Utah: Getting the Lead Out. Co-authored with Tim Hauck (ENVS '10).

Stefan Karkuff (Biology '11) presented on Patterns of Avian Distribution in Shrublands: Observations from Across the Northeast. Co-authored with Tim Hauck and John Confer.

Both presentations were conducted at the annual meeting of New York State Ornithological Association in Auburn, New York on 22-24 October.
