The International Club (ICIC) in collaboration with the Office of International Programs will hold the annual International Photo Exhibition on October 26th and 27th. The display will up for viewing and voting from 10:00am to 3:00pm in the North Foyer.

So, come and share your photos with the community and win prizes- 1st place ($100), 2nd place ($50) and 3rd place ($25).

There are two main categories of the contest: People and Places, as well as an additional special category Water.

Entries must be submitted to the Office of International Programs in CHS 214-2 by 5:00pm on Wednesday, October 20th.

Breast Cancer Walk Tomorrow!

Don’t miss out!  The Exercise Science Club is holding their 3rd annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk at 1pm on Saturday, October 9th, at Butterfield Stadium.

 

Join us for raffles- gift cards to places like the Ale House, Diamond Cuisine, Le Nails and much more! Food has been donated from Ithaca Bakery, Sodexo and Starbucks… Physical therapy students will also be giving FREE massages to help support our walkers.

 

Bring your friends, bring your family, and come support our efforts to give to the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes.  We look forward to seeing you there!

 

MCAT -- don't miss out!

MCAT registration is now open for the January through May 2011 exams. 

If you are planning on taking the MCAT, you should sign up early for the date and location you want, as they can fill up.

Consider joining a local contingent at IC to participate in the NMC 2010 Virtual Symposium of the Future on October 19-21 in the Center for Educational Technology.  The Symposium, held online, looks toward the future: What might the world look like in five years or ten? Technologies and practices that are just beginning to show promise in an educational or social context may well be commonplace in that time frame.  ITS has purchased one paid registration to log into this event from the CET. There is no charge to participants and is open to faculty, staff, and students.

Before there was WikiLeaks, there was Daniel Ellsberg. His 1971 leak of the Pentagon Papers — a secret study detailing the lies of a succession of presidents about the war in Vietnam — nearly landed him in prison for life.

The Park Center for Independent Media presents “An Evening with Daniel Ellsberg” on Wednesday, October 20, in Ford Hall. The Oscar-nominated documentary “The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers” will be screened at 7 p.m., with Ellsberg speaking at 8:30 p.m. Both the film and lecture are free and open to the public. Ellsberg will sign copies of his books following his talk.

The Ithaca softball team ranked 10th nationally with a 3.447 grade-point average, according to figures recently released by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The Bombers, who reached the Division III World Series last year for the ninth time in 15 years, were the only World Series team to rank in the top 10. Ithaca ranked eighth in 2009; this marks the first time the Bombers have finished in the nation's top 10 in consecutive seasons.

If you are a student and you need to drive a College owned/leased vehicle for any reason, you must complete a driver safety class.

The next driver safety class will be offered on Monday, October 11, 2010 from 7pm-9pm in Textor 103.

Students should communicate directly with their faculty when they need to miss a class for health or family emergencies, for court appearances, etc. Faculty who require documentation of student absences should communicate directly with their students. The Office of Student Affairs and Campus Life no longer issues “Notifications of Absence.”

On-campus residents who will be away from campus for an extended period of time should notify Residential Life of their absence from campus by emailing housing@ithaca.edu and including their building and room number in that message.

 

Jonathan Ablard, Associate Professor of History, presented a keynote address to the Interdisciplinary Seminar on Mental Health: Treatments for Insanity throughout History (Seminario Interdisciplinario en Salud Mental: Los tratamientos de la locura a lo largo de la historia), at the National Autonomous University of Mexico September 29-October 1, 2010.
