It is based on book (freely available on the web) that transformed  my life and I wanted to share it with others.  The course is open to everyone.

The Study Abroad Ice Cream Social will be held Wednesday, September 15, from 6:00-7:00 in Clark Lounge, Campus Center.  This event is held each fall specifically for first-year students.  You will have the chance to hear from and ask questions of lots of IC students who have studied abroad in locations all across the globe, all while eating make-your-own sundaes! This is a great opportunity to learn more about your options for study abroad and to hear all about study abroad directly from students who have lived the experience.

IC Fit Kids Is Back!

IC Fit Kids is an interactive program for kids ages 8-16, designed to help promote healthy life style awareness and exercise techniques in order to increase your child’s quality of life. The program is designed for a range of needs from fun physical activity, to weight loss and sports performance. The program will be offered four days a week, which should allow enough flexibility for you and your child’s schedule. Pick two days that work best for you, or bring your child every day!

Where: Ithaca College Wellness Clinic, CHS 302

When: September 20th- December 2nd (no sessions during Thanksgiving break)

Who: Children of Ithaca College employees

Times: Monday - Thursday, 4:30- 6 pm

Price:  $5 per session

This is a reminder that if you worked between August 30th and September 12th, you must submit an online timecard in Parnassus to record your hours. Your timecard must be submitted and approved by noon on Tuesday, September 14th in order to receive a paycheck on Friday, September 17th.

Six writing students who interned in New York City, Washington DC, Baltimore, and Ithaca this past summer will talk about their experiences  --  how they got their internships, what work they did, what they learned about the field, etc.

Interns worked at magazines and journals –– National Geographic Magazine, Urbanite magazine, Academe  (journal of the American Association of University Professors)
and publishing houses –– Simon & Schuster (large, for-profit); Essay Press (small, nonprofit)
and in development/fundraising –– Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company

Wendy Herbener Mehne will present a free flute recital at 7:00 pm on Sunday, September 12 in the Hockett Family Recital Hall.  Diane Birr will collaborate on harpsichord and piano, and Heidi Hoffman will play the cello.  Music of J.S. Bach, Weber, and Taktakishvili is on the program.

Do you want to have some fun while helping the environment at the same time? The Ithaca College wetlands need your help! IC’s Conservation Biology class is looking for volunteers to help with removing over-abundant cattails from the ponds of the brand new IC wetlands, created to mitigate wetland losses resulting from construction of the IC Athletic Center. This will be a great chance to help with an important cause and enjoy the great outdoors before it gets cold.
