Mike Welch, head football coach, recently participated in the development of the DVD Sport Leadership: A Self-Determination Theory Perspective.  Welch was one of 42 athletes, coaches and psychologists from colleges in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom to featured on the DVD.

Are you thinking of hiring a photographer for your next event?  Consider these tips for how to make your photographs count.

·Don’t skip the photographs in the interest of saving money.  They may be very useful for publicity purposes at a later date, or for annual reports, newsletters and releases, etc.

·Think about what photographs you need in advance.  For many events it is possible to hire a photographer for an hour or two to get the shots you need.  It is often not necessary for the photographer to stay for the whole event.  Keep in mind that a photographer can be present at an event for an hour or and deliver photos that make it look like s/he were there the whole time.  Not so with video.

·Be very specific about what shots you need and in what format (digital, prints, etc.) you need them.

Professor Amanullah De Sondy, Assistant Professor of World Religions, Department of Philosophy and Religion will present a paper on 'Exploring Qur'anic Masculinity and Masculinities' at Cornell University on Thursday 11th March at 4:30pm (110 White Hall).  

The paper will outline and discuss the images of masculinity that are performed, displayed and constructed in the Qur'anic world.  In turn exploring if they support monolithic/hegemonic notions of an Islamic masculinity or are exemplary for gender/sexual pluralism.  Opening a timely debate on the challenges and implications posed by  Qur'anic masculinities on the study of Islam and Muslims.

For the fourth straight year, the Corporation for National and Community Service has recognized Ithaca College with a place on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. Launched in 2006, the honor roll is the highest federal recognition a school can achieve for its commitment to service learning and civic engagement.

Seven members of the Ithaca women’s swimming & diving team will represent the Bombers at the NCAA Division III Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships, March 17-20 in Minneapolis, Minn. It is the largest group of Bomber swimmers to qualify for the national meet since 1999, when Ithaca finished seventh in the team standings.

Ithaca finished 13th in the 2009 NCAA Division III Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship and has finished in the top-20 at the national meet 20 times in the last 27 years. This year's championship meet will be held at the University Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota and is hosted by Beloit College and The College of Wooster.

The women's track & field team will have three athletes in action at the NCAA Championships: junior Marcia McCord in the long jump, triple jump and 400-meter dash, sophomore Emma Dewart in the high jump and pentathlon and graduate student Lauren Koppel in the pentathlon. DePauw will host the meet Friday and Saturday.
