 Ithaca College’s Department of Sociology has been selected by the Eastern Sociological Society to host Naomi Gerstel, the 2009-2010 Distinguished Robin Williams Lecturer.  Stephen Sweet (Associate Professor of Sociology) will coordinate Dr. Gerstel’s visit to the Ithaca College Campus in Fall 2010.

Because of the road conditions around the area and on campus this morning, Ithaca College will have a delayed opening on Friday, February 26. Students asked and Hillel delivers - not one, but two Shabbat services! This week, in reponse to your requests we will have both Reform and Conservative services. The Reform service will be led by our own Cantor Abbe Lyons using the new Reform prayerbook, Mishkan T'filah.  The Conservative service will be student led. We will all join together at the end for wine and challah.  If you have been waiting to see a Reform service happen, this week's Shabbat is for you! Services will begin at 6pm in Muller Chapel this Friday Feb. 26th.  See you there!

How? By completing the Core Alcohol & Other Drug survey online. It will take only 15-20 minutes.

When? Check your inbox this Sunday, February 28th for an email from the Core Institute. The email will contain the survey link.

Why? The survey results will guide the IC Center for Health Promotion's prevention and education efforts. A year of NetFlix is a $160 value! The second place prize is a 6 month subscription, valued at $84.

The Core Survey is sponsored by the IC Center for Health Promotion and is voluntary and confidential. The survey link will be sent to a random sample of 3000 IC undergraduates. When you complete the survey, your email address is separated from your responses and automatically entered into the drawing. The drawing will take place on March 15, 2010, and winners will be notified by email.

The On the Verge staged reading of Sarah Ruhl's In the Next Room, or The Vibrator Play, originally scheduled for Thursday, February 25th, has been postponed because of the weather.  The reading will take place on Sunday, February 28th, at 8 p.m., in Studio 4, Dillingham Center.

The recital scheduled for Thursday, February 25 has been postponed due to weather; watch the concert calendar for news of the rescheduled date.

Thomas Perls, M.D., M.P.H., is the Gerontology Institute's spring 2010 distinguished speaker. Dr. Perls is a geriatrician at Boston Medical Center and associate professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine.

Interviews with conservative writer and policy advocate David Horowitz and New York gubernatorial candidate Rick Lazio will be aired on VIC Radio Sunday, February 28 at 5:00 pm EST. The interviews were conducted by Brandon Kurtz, ’11, and will be aired on his political commentary program.

AES accepts applications for qualified tutors on an ongoing basis. 

Currently, we are seeking to hire a bank PEER TUTORS, SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTION LEADERS, and STUDY SUPPORTERS for academic year 2010/2011.  We expect to have two 1 hour training session before the end of the year for those hired.

Pathway is a mental health crisis prevention and intervention program offered by Counseling and Psychological Services.  Pathway workshops teach participants to:

• Identify a potential mental health crisis.
• Initiate a conversation with someone at risk.
• Ask directly about suicidal thoughts.
• Make referrals to appropriate resources
