IC Theatre and the School of Music will stage a regional premiere of the opera “The Little Prince.” Ticket prices range from $4.50 to $10 and can be purchased in person at the Ithaca College box office in Dillingham Center or by calling the box office at (607) 274-3224. “The Little Prince” is sung in English.

The purpose: of this Diversity Education Workshop will be to enhance participants’ understanding of the role diversity plays within intercollegiate athletics. Additionally, time will be spent focusing on the necessary aspects of building a more diverse and inclusive environment.

Who should attend: Anybody interested in issues of diversity in Intercollegiate Athletics.

Beth Ellen Clark Joseph, associate professor and chair of physics at Ithaca College, will spend 2010 working on a concept study with fellow members of a science team whose proposal to study asteroid geology has been selected as one of three finalists for NASA’s New Frontiers Program.

During her 20-year career as a journalist, Farai Chideya has combined media, technology and social justice to produce award-winning stories on some of the nation’s most important issues.

Chideya will give a free public talk on “How Social Media and Citizen Journalism are Changing the Media Terrain and the World” on Tuesday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Ithaca College’s Park Hall Auditorium.

House of Roy is a new Residential Learning Community for Fall 2010! The community will be located in Eastman Hall in the Quads, and is open to any students who are interested in issues of gender identity and sexual orientation. Specifically, House of Roy is a supportive residential community where lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students and allies can explore and express who they are in a safe and affirming environment.

Almost College, a student television production made in John Scott’s Video Workshop class, has been selected as a finalist for the College Television Awards. The show is up against four other finalists in the category of TV Series. The winners will be announced on February 26.

College Television Awards is produced by The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation and is known colloquially as “The College Emmys.” Students who headed the production include Rob Bowman (writer/producer), Jordan Edelstein (writer/director) and Colleen Wood (editor).
