President Peggy R. Williams invites all Ithaca College employees to our traditional summer ice cream social on Monday, August 6 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. on the Campus Center quad. (Rain location: IC Square)

In April 2006 the campus was notified in Intercom that the recycling program for laser/toner cartridges was being discontinued and that departments are to use the pre-paid shipping labels that accompany the installation instruction in the box with the replacement cartridge.

Booming sounds Monday afternoon (July 2) from South Hill will be the all-clear signal for the 60th annual Ithaca Community Fireworks Show. Beginning at 2 p.m., an aerial salute that can be heard for miles around will be fired every hour on the hour by fireworks technicians as a reminder that the show is a “go.”

We received a communication from Herbert M. Allison, Jr. (Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, TIAA President and Chief Executive Officer, CREF) that explains their recent challenges with service. John Confer, scholar in residence and retired associate professor of biology, described the increase in wildlife diversity due to clearing small patches of forest in large, contiguous forest habitat at the Hudson Highlands Research Symposium in Cornwall, New York.

For the third year in a row, ICTV's Newswatch 16 won for Best Regularly Scheduled Local News Program in the College Station competition sponsored by the New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association (NYSAPBA). This year's award was given for the March 4, 2007, newscast.

Asma Barlas, director of the Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity (CSCRE) and professor of politics, made two presentations in the Netherlands in June. One was at the "Redefining Boundaries: Muslim Women and Religious Authority" conference in Amsterdam; the other was at a master class at the University of Leiden.

There are Swimming Lessons available at the Outdoor pool this summer.

Spectators at the 60th annual Ithaca Community Fireworks Show on Monday, July 2, are reminded to park safely and sanely. In particular, parking on state and county highways and road shoulders is not permitted, especially on route 96-B near Ithaca College and along routes 13, 34, 79, and 96.
