We are pleased to announce that Kristyn Lingenfelter has been hired to serve as a Student Records Specialist in the Registrar's Office.

Kristyn previously worked in a temporary position as the Administrative Assistant for the Homer Project. She brings a friendly disposition and experience with the new Homer System to the office. In the office her primary responsibilities will be to produce enrollment verifications and transcripts. We hope you will join us in welcoming Kristyn to Ithaca College.

President Peggy R. Williams is joining with other educators in committing to an effort to reduce and ultimately neutralize campus greenhouse gas emissions. Williams has become a charter signatory to the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, pledging to follow a set of timetables in pursuit of climate neutrality.

On Thursday, May 10, the Delta chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia -- a national all-male music fraternity -- presented retired IC faculty member Angus Godwin with the Orpheus Award. The Orpheus Award is the highest honor that the chapter can bestow upon a member of the community who has significantly contributed to the cause of music in America.

Assistant professor of biology Marina Caillaud co-published an article in the Journal of Insect Science. Caillaud and her co-authors -- Stewart M. Gray, Mary Burrows, and Dawn M. Smith -- wrote the article, "Transmission of two viruses that cause Barley Yellow Dwarf is controlled by different loci in the aphid, Schizaphis graminum" in the journal's April 2007 issue (volume 7, number 25, pp. 1536-2442).

A school-record 16 Ithaca student-athletes have been named to District I all-academic teams this year. Nominees to the academic all-district teams, which are voted on by sports information directors, must be sophomores, juniors or seniors whose cumulative grade-point average is at least 3.2.
