An open workshop will be conducted by assistant professor of physics Michael "Bodhi" Rogers on Monday, May 7th at 4 pm in CNS208. Please attend if you want to learn more about using clickers and what they can do to improve student learning, or more about the new PRS system.

Violinist Byron Wallis, hornist Amy Sanchez, and pianist Karl Lutchmayer will present a free concert of chamber music on Wednesday, May 2 at 7pm in the Hockett Family Recital Hall. All three performers are teaching in the School of Music this semester as sabbatical replacements. Their program includes trios by Ligeti and Brahms.

A free joint concert given by the Ithaca College Brass Choir and Wind Ensemble will take place on Tuesday, May 1 at 8:15 pm in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. Keith Kaiser and Stephen Peterson will conduct.

Two Ithaca College choral groups—the chorus and the women’s chorale—will give a free joint concert on Wednesday, May 2. Beginning at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music, the event will feature the chorus singing the well-loved “Requiem” by Gabriel Fauré. Janet Galván will conduct the performance, which will be accompanied by an orchestra of Ithaca College students and feature soloists Deborah Lifton (soprano) and Brad Hougham (baritone).

Documentary maker Mara Alper (Associate Professor, Television - Radio
Department, Park School) will talk about her work with the Huichol
(WE-chol) tribe of Mexico. Mara has been speaking with Huichol shaman and
artisans for the last eight years, and attending traditional ceremonies in
the mountains outside Guadalajara. On Thursday she will screen the segment of
her documentary that highlights the Huichol art. She will also talk about
her experience with the Huichol and her concerns about keeping traditional
cultures alive in modern times.
