Flexible Working Hours Policy

We are pleased to announce the College has revised the Flexible Working Hours Policy to allow for a four-day work week option effective immediately. Information pertaining to this policy and the request form can be found online at Flexible Work Hours.

the second floor of FRIENDS, while the electric is being worked on in the Terrace Buildings this summer.
The Main Dining Service Office will be located at 207 FRIENDS until further notice.

The men's lacrosse team (11-4) has received the top seed for this weekend's Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Upstate New York playoffs. Ithaca will host fourth-seeded St. John Fisher at 4:00 p.m. in one semifinal, with second-seeded Nazareth hosting third-seeded Oneonta in the other. Both semifinals will be Friday, May 12, with the highest remaining seed hosting Sunday's final. If the final is held at Ithaca the starting time will be 3:00 p.m.

The Ithaca softball team has been chosen to host a seven-team NCAA regional tournament. The Bombers (35-4) are seeded second in the double-elimination regional, which will be held Thursday through Sunday at Ithaca's Kostrinsky Field. Ithaca's first game will be Thursday, May 11, at 2:00 p.m. against seventh-seeded Penn-State Behrend (30-6).

The Ithaca College community is invited to the 39th Annual Commencement Eve Concert on Saturday, May 13, at 8:30 p.m. in the Ben Light Gymnasium. You are also welcome at the dress rehearsal on Friday, May 12 at 8:30 p.m. -- less traffic and a smaller crowd, but the exact same show. The dress rehearsal is a polished performance that is attended each year by hundreds of people, and provides a wonderful opportunity to experience the concert in a more relaxed setting.

I am pleased to announce that Susanne Morgan, associate professor, sociology, has been re-appointed as the coordinator for faculty development activities for the next three years. Susanne has served as coordinator since the 2002-03 year and contributed significantly to developing the program of activites in support of faculty development at the College.

The Academic Procession

As we prepare for our 2006 Commencement on Sunday, May 14, 2006, I would like to provide you with some information regarding the academic procession. The procession will form at 8:30 a.m. outside in the academic quad if it’s nice weather, or inside the enclosed walkway beginning at Job Hall and extending through the Campus Center if it is raining. Please see below for information on forming the academic procession if Commencement is indoors. The academic procession will begin at 9:15 a.m. and the Commencement ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. All guests will be encouraged to be seated by 9:00 a.m.

Stephen Sweet's (sociology) article: "Dual Earners in Double Jeopardy: Preparing for Job Loss in the New Risk Economy" has been accepted for publication in the journal Research in the Sociology of Work. Phyllis Moen (University of Minnesota) and Peter Meiksins (Cleveland State University) co-authored the article with Sweet.
