The Exploratory Program cordially invites you to the 2020 Virtual Majors & Minors Fair, to be held on Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. (EDT).

Are you actively investigating majors and minors or questioning your choice of academic program? Are you interested in trying to figure out how to complete two majors, study abroad, complete a summer internship, and still graduate on time? If so, then this virtual event is for you.

Join us on Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 4:30-7:00 p.m. (EDT) for an evening of conversation with faculty and student representatives from every IC major and minor, as well as representatives from the Academic Advising Center, Exploratory Program, Career Services, Registrar, Study Abroad, and Financial Services.

  The Ithacan is looking for talented artists to work with our paper. Each week The Ithacan publishes a cartoon that goes alongside our editorial for the week. As a cartoonist at The Ithacan you would work closely with our opinion editor to come up with unique ways to depict the editorial theme of the week.

Allison Frisch, Assistant Professor of Journalism and Documentary Studies, published a curated playlist of multimedia journalism during COVID-19 as part of the Centre for Screen Cultures playlist initiative at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

The themed playlist initiative provides resources for scholars around the world for teaching and research on independent multimedia journalism in a time of coronavirus.

On Tuesday, October 20 at 12:10 PM, Hannah Kaplan (NASA) will be discussing spectral investigation of asteroid Bennu with the OSIRIS-REx Mission. Here are some more details about the talk!  

OSIRIS-REx is a spacecraft mission to near-earth asteroid (101955) Bennu that will collect and return a sample from the asteroid to Earth. Two spectrometers on the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft measured the visible, near-infrared and thermal-infrared wavelengths of light reflected or emitted from the asteroid over multiple years of observation. This spectral data can be used to determine the chemistry and mineralogy of the asteroid, which in turn tell about its origin and geologic history.
