ICIC 12000 Insight: Combining Expertise

How can we combine insights from disciplinary experts to address complex issues? Guest experts from a variety of disciplines will discuss how researchers and practitioners in each of their disciplines would address a common issue. Techniques are introduced to combine their insights and lead to deeper understanding and more powerful solutions. Pass/Fail. 1 credit. No prerequisites. LA.

TVR320: Topics in Media Technology: The Seduction and Surveillance of New Media (ICC WI and ICC DV) CRN# 30044 focuses on how new media (mobile, social, web, etc.) has led to some unanticipated outcomes that affect our personal life experience in both utopic and dystopic ways. We will also focus on how digital media has impacted the construction of individual and group identities, challenged inequality, and given a voice to people and populations that have been systematically marginalized.

Our hearts continue to grieve over the events in Pittsburgh this past Saturday, when eleven Jews were murdered while at Shabbat morning services and six people, including four police officers, were wounded.

The Committee for College-wide Requirements, CCR, is requesting faculty volunteers for ICC course designation subcommittees.

So that both faculty and students have a clear sense of when ICC course designations are effective, CCR has established deadlines for proposal submission. For ICC designations to be effective for Spring 2019 course offerings, proposals must be submitted to icc@ithaca.edu no later than Thursday, November 1, 2018.  This deadline is the absolute latest that proposals will be considered by CCR for Spring designation and will enable CCR to provide faculty with a review response sufficiently in advance of the semester for planning purposes.

Trout in the Classroom (TIC) is a science-enrichment program developed by Trout Unlimited that places cold-water aquarium systems in seventeen schools through Tompkins County. Participating classes receive trout eggs in the fall, raise them during the school year, and release them into a nearby stream in May.
