Diversity Abroad info session

A representative from Diversity Abroad will be on campus on Thursday, September 27th. They will hold an info session in Textor 103 from 12:10-1:00, which will include an introduction to the organization and the resources they offer, including information about Diversity Abroad's scholarships to help students fund study abroad experiences.

James A. Rada, Associate Professor and Chair in Department of Journalism, has co-authored a book chapter titled, The Offensive Line: Journalists Use of Words Considered Disparaging.  The chapter focuses on the controversy surrounding Native American mascots - especially that of the the Washington football team.  The chapter appears in the recently released book, Case Studies in Sport Communication: You Make the Call. 

 

Rada's co-author, and the book's co-editor, is IC Alum David Burns.

 

 Wellness and Cancer Survivorship  Program at Ithaca College 

The physical therapy and exercise science departments at Ithaca College are teaming up to conduct a research project called the Wellness and Cancer Survivorship Program that will offer a free fitness membership to cancer survivors for the fall semester at the Ithaca College Wellness Clinic. We are looking for individuals who have had a diagnosis of non-metastatic cancer (stage 1-3) and are within 3 years since their final treatment who would be interested in participating in a supportive and individualized fitness program. Participants will be provided with a team of fitness specialists including faculty, staff and students to help them achieve their exercise goals over an 8 wk period. Click here for more information.

Students from the Department of Exercise Science will be visiting various buildings on campus to provide free blood pressure screenings. Screenings will also be going on all day in the wellness clinic.
