New Office 365 Applications

We are pleased to announce that new tools within Office 365 will be made available to the campus community in the coming months. Beginning on September 20, 2018, students, faculty, and staff will see the Microsoft Teams, Planner and Bookings applications available in the Office 365 portal. These additional applications provide some great new tools for faculty, staff and students to use in and out of the classroom, and are a part of our continuing effort to provide the campus with a broad spectrum of applications and services.

Claims made by Charter Communications, Inc. (“Charter”) for its Spectrum cable TV service were challenged by DIRECTV, LLC (“DIRECTV”), a competing provider of television service. 

The challenged video, titled “Evil Commute,” is part of Spectrum’s series of “monster” commercials that feature fictional monster-type characters (Grim Reaper, Mummy, Mad Scientist, Werewolf) engaged in normal human activities. The challenged video shows monster characters talking about the upcoming weekend while riding a commuter train home from work. The challenged claims made in the video commercial include the following:

  • Satellite dish went out in the rain … again.”
  • “How can they sell something that doesn’t always work in the rain?”
  • “TV that cuts out in the rain is evil. Spectrum is reliable. Satellite TV Bad. Spectrum Good."

Full-time, continuing faculty members are invited to submit proposals to the Center for Faculty Excellence for CFRD released time during the Fall 2019 semester.

Please submit your proposal (including the Cover Sheet and no more than two single-spaced pages) to your respective dean (through your department chair) by Monday, October 22.  We in turn ask deans to review the proposals and forward only those deemed appropriate and competitive to the Center for Faculty Excellence, 316 Gannett, by Wednesday, October 31.
