Each scene is a warm-up before a game. During those warm-ups, the girls talk about everything from genocide to tampons; meanwhile, their own complicated relationship to the group, to their families, and to a larger world with which they are just starting to grapple is subtly revealed. The Wolves is about coming of age, about the isolation and anxieties of adolescence, and about the interrelationship between our personal identities and the communities that we form to fulfill and contain them.
