At the annual meeting of the International Studies Association held in San Francisco, April 4-7, Naeem Inayatullah presented:

  • “To Teach as We Learn to Learn” for the roundtable, The Classroom as a Hospitable Space: Meditations on Teaching IR Inspired by Parker J. Palmer;

  • “Hope: Crushed and Uncrushed” for the roundtable, Out of Crushed Hopes: Third World, National Liberation and the Weight of Structures; and

  • “Theories of Exploitation,” at the panel, Alternative Approaches to Political Economy.

 He also served as:

  • host for “Teaching Methods” in Critical Methods Café;  and as

  • discussant for the panel, The Academic Response: Reacting to Authoritarian Populism Without Changing Our Vocations.

On Thursday, April 12th at 4 pm in Klingenstein Lounge you have an opportunity to hear the FLEFF Diversity Scholars. These grad students representing a variety of disciplines will present their research interests. This will be followed by a 5 pm reception in Clark lounge where President Collado will join us.

We hope a number of faculty from a variety of departments will attend to show support for the College's diversity and inclusion efforts.

Guest saxophonist Grace Kelly will be coming to Ithaca on April 24th and 25th for a masterclass and performance with the Ithaca College Jazz Ensemble, directed by Mike Titlebaum. The masterclass will be on Wednesday, April 25th from 10am until noon in the Whalen Center for Music's rehearsal room "IRR," and the performance will also be on April 25th at 8:15pm in Ford Hall.

Ithaca College will recognize a longtime educator, a transgender equality advocate, and an arts scholar and administrator with honorary Doctor of Letters degrees. Gloria Hobbs, Mara Keisling and Daniel Weiss will be awarded their degrees at the college’s 2018 Commencement ceremony on May 20.
