Professor Gladys M. Varona-Lacey (Modern Languages & Literatures) presented a conference paper in Quito, Ecuador, on March 7th at the XXI Congreso Internacional de Literatura y Estudios Hispánicos. Her paper, “La herejía como liberación en Herejes de Leonardo Padura”, analyses how the novel’s characters obtain personal freedom by breaking the rules established by the art world, religion, and politics. Padura is considered to be Cuba's best known contemporary writer.

On Friday, 3/23/18, two campus parking lots will be impacted by closures for events.  Through 9:30 a.m. only, the M-Lot (A&E Center Lot) will be closed as reserved swim meet parking.  At 9:30, it will open back to normal use.  Also, through 9 a.m. only, two blocks of O-Lot (Park Communications Lot) totaling about 65 spaces will be closed as reserved parking for an Admissions event.  All other spaces in O-Lot will be open for normal use, as will the reserved sections as of 9 a.m.  Individuals requiring access to the handicapped spaces in any lot can continue to access those spaces by speaking to the lot attendant.

Seniors of Color Leadership Awards

The awards form is now open for students of color in the graduating class of 2018 to self-nominate and will close on April 13, 2018 @12pm. After the final selection process, award recipients will be notified no later than April 20th, 2018

Registration is currently open for the Spring offering of the R.A.D. self-defense course for women. Spaces still remain available for this class, which will be conducted in four 3-hour sessions on each Wednesday evening during April from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.  This course is open to any student, faculty or staff member who identifies as female.

Participants must be able to attend all four class dates (4/4, 4/11, 4/18 & 4/25) in order to receive certification.  Course registration is $15; however, this fee can be waived in cases of financial hardship.

The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) and the Teaching and Learning Technology (TLT) group collaborated to offer a hands-on experience, VoiceThread: Beginning to Engage, for Ithaca College (IC) faculty.

VoiceThread is an asynchronous online tool that allows you and your students to engage with a variety of media and integrates with Sakai. The use of VoiceThread is free with an IC login. Many faculty on campus are already using it as part of their course design with promising results.
