On November 30, President Shirley M. Collado announced the creation of the President’s Seed Grant Initiative to provide a launching pad for original, cross-disciplinary collaborations that develop innovative ideas and lay the groundwork for the college’s upcoming strategic visioning process. The emphasis is on new ideas and fresh perspectives, and grants will be made to support efforts that are initiative-focused, not program-focused, and can range from $2,000 to $25,000.

The Center for Faculty Excellence and the Faculty Development Committee seek nominations for Ithaca College’s annual Faculty Excellence Awards. We will offer six, $1,500 awards. In the spirit of the promotion of diversity and inclusion, we welcome the nomination of faculty of color, women and gender non-binary faculty, LGBTQ+ faculty, faculty with disabilities, and part-time and full-time contingent faculty. The deadline for all supporting materials is Monday, February 26, 2018.

The Center for Faculty Excellence is pleased to announce a call for proposals for its Faculty-in-Residence program in the academic year, 2018-2019.  The program will bring together up to 6 faculty members who have proposed a program of study, reflection, planning, and action related to some aspect of faculty excellence and development.  Successful proposals will link faculty interests to Ithaca College initiatives and must have a potential impact beyond the faculty member’s own discipline or department.   Proposals are especially welcome that address leadership development, contemplative pedagogy, cultural fluency, mentoring, inclusion and equity, advocacy, and development of pedagogical strategies related to quantitative literacy and writing.

Continuing this year, the Center for Faculty Excellence is offering an excellence institute in inclusive course design. The Early Career Excellence Institute (ECEI) is a yearlong opportunity. Participants work in faculty learning communities to problem solve, design, and reflect on significant and equitable course changes. This is a chance for faculty across campus to build substantive interdisciplinary relationships across campus regarding pedagogical intention and access in student learning.

Due to the College's holiday break, timecards for the pay period December 11-December 24, must be submitted and approved by 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20th. Any timecards not submitted and approved by this date might not be processed in time for payment on Friday, December 29.
