This online Winter Session course explores how representations of racial and ethnic identities in U.S. film, television, and music influence the construction of political, racial, and gender identities nationally. Investigates how cultural representations of race, ethnicity, and gender are central to the development of U.S. mass culture, nationalism, citizenship, and social movements. Particular attention is given to the role of black, Latino/a, Native and Asian culture and music in developing strategies of resistance to oppression.

Course fulfills ICC Diversity Designation; General Education requirements 1: Self & Society and GE h: Historical Perspective, Humanities, Liberal Arts. 3 credits

We will watch lots of great films and TV series!

 All students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend our Vigil Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception tomorrow December 7 at 5:15 pm in the sanctuary. 

The Catholic Community weekly soup supper dinner after Mass will also be offered.
