The Study Abroad Ice Cream Social is tonight! This event features a panel of IC study abroad alumni who studied on many different types of programs, in countries across the globe. They will discuss their international experiences, provide advice, and answer questions, all while you enjoy unlimited make-your-own sundaes!  The Social will be held Monday, September 18, 6:00-7:00, in the Klingenstein Lounge, Campus Center.

This Monday, September 18th is the Ithaca College Red Cross Club's second blood drive of the semester! Come by Emerson Suites from 2 PM to 8 PM to make a blood donation. Walk-ins welcome! We will also be accepting donations for disaster relief and writing cards for victims of Hurricane Irma.

Make a PowerRed donation to save up to double the amount of lives! In a PowerRed donation, the donor will donate two liters of blood instead of the usual one liter. This type of donation comes with more strict height and weight requirements.

Assistant Professor of Spanish, Giovanna Rivero, has received special recognition for her literary work, Lo más oscuro del bosque.

The Bolivian Academy of Children's and Young Adult Literature has selected Rivero's young adult novel for recognition as one of the most significant contributions to young adult literature in Bolivia. 

The novel, whose young protagonist is a rapper, engages with the issue of bipolar disorder. Rivero chose to have her main character communicate complex issues through rap as the genre allows for wordplay and an ease of expression that is unmatched by other musical genres.

A test of the Ithaca College Emergency Notification System (ENS) will take place during the noon hour on Tuesday, Sept. 19. It will include a test of the Outdoor Warning System, which features a siren tone and loudspeaker message. There is no need to take any action in response to the tests.

The ENS uses voice, e-mail, and text messaging to provide information and instructions in the event of a campus emergency. It is important to have multiple ways to receive alerts in order to ensure access to essential notices, such as weather closings or delays.

At the 16th annual Cross-Cultural Leadership Retreat (CCLR), students will have the chance to explore identity, oppression, marginalization and other related issues. IC students can use this knowledge to explore their own identity as well as others’ identities, and learn to seek justice on our campus and in the community.
