Campus Wide Bike Sweep Week!

Beginning on May 3rd the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management will be conducting a sweep of the campus for the purpose of removing bicycles and bicycle parts that are abandoned and/or locked to anything other than a bicycle rack.  The sweep is being conducted to improve campus safety, maximizes the availability of bike parking resources and improve the beauty of our campus environment.

And, IC Dining's donation drive to end childhood hunger in our community starts today at all retail dining locations. Please consider a donation of any size to help end hunger in our community! The Diversity and Inclusion Discussion Circle invites members of the campus community to attend its weekly gatherings on Wednesdays at noon in Klingenstein Lounge.

At our next gathering on Wednesday, April 19, Claudia de la Cruz will present on the power of hip-hop to influence social change, and her work as part of Rebel Diaz Arts Collective (RDAC) in the South Bronx. Through bilingual musical performances and educational workshops, RDAC is a space for cultural exchange and education around timely social justice issues.

  The Society of Professional Journalists has named The Ithacan’s website the Best Affiliated Newspaper Website in the Northeast Region for 2016. The website received the first place Mark of Excellence Award at the SPJ Region 1 conference April 8 at John Jay College of CUNY in New York.

The website now goes on to compete against the winners in the other 11 SPJ regions for the national Mark of Excellence Award. That award will be presented at the SPJ national convention Sept. 7–9 in Anaheim, California. The SPJ is the largest professional organization of reporters and editors in the country.

In addition, the Ithacan’s print newspaper was honored as a Finalist in the Best All-Around Nondaily Newspaper category.

The club Ithaca College Unites For HER participates in fundraising efforts to provide a grant to any student, faculty, staff or immediate family member of theirs affected by breast cancer. This grant is to help pay for integrative, complementary therapies to help those who are going through or have gone through breast cancer treatment. These therapies include acupuncture, yoga classes, massage therapy, and nutrition counseling among others. A night of nifty, retro fun!

Join IC After Dark for Nifty 50’s Pub on Friday, April 21 from 8-11 pm in IC Square! See the pub transform into the niftiest soda shop with FREE burgers, make-your-own ice cream sundaes, root beer floats and more! There will be a karaoke machine, dance lessons and prizes!

 

 

Over the weekend 52 students attended the 2017 National Conference of Undergraduate Research (NCUR) in Memphis, Tennessee. The students were accompanied by Associate Professor James Pfrehm, Modern Languages and Literatures, and Rasoul Rezvanian, Associate Dean/Business.
