Ithaca College's exchange partner Akita International University (AIU) offers semester, full year, and short-term study abroad opportunities in English for IC students, as well as opportunities for international collaboration for faculty.  There will be an informational meeting this Tuesday, March 21, 12:10-1:00, in Friends 205 with an AIU representative who will be visiting campus.  The meeting is open to both students and faculty members wishing to learn more about what AIU has to offer.

 The Ithacan was presented with a Silver Crown award by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association at the spring National College Media Convention on March 12 at the Sheraton Times Square Hotel in New York City. The Crown Awards are the highest honors presented by CSPA.

Aging Studies faculty Mary Ann Erickson, Associate Professor and Chair, and Elizabeth J. Bergman, Associate Professor, co-presented a resource exchange at the 43rd Annual Meeting of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE) in Miami, March 9-12, entitled Deepening Discussion about Diversity in Gerontology Courses. Elizabeth Bergman also presented a resource exchange entitled, Innovations in Intergenerationality as a Pedagogical Tool.

Come celebrate March Madness with IC After Dark on Friday, March 24! From 8-11 pm in the fitness center there will be opportunities to watch one of the games, participate in a basketball tournament, go on an inflatable obstacle course or even climb on the rock wall!

The event will also be catered by Luna's Street Food (that means FREE mac & cheese), so don't miss out on this awesome opportunity!

Pierce will be giving a Keynote Address on Sunday at 1pm in Klingenstein Lounge, host a “Conversation with Tamora Pierce” from 3-4pm Sunday, and will be signing books on both days.

Activities suggested for kids include creative workshops, crafting, Harry Potter trivia, Dungeons and Dragons, and grabbing a nerf blaster to hunt "zombies" in the Zombie Maze.

Volunteers are needed for ITHACON, our local comic book/kids' expo held on Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26 in the Emerson Suites and Williams Hall.  This event offers a great opportunity for doing community service and working with kids without leaving campus.  First 100 volunteers get an ITHACON minion T-shirt.

On Thursday, March 23, Ithaca College will be hosting the 27th Annual Ed Tech Day from 9 AM until 3:00 PM throughout the Campus Center as well as Emerson Suites.

The event includes over 50 national and regional technology vendors, vendor seminars, a college showcase and a Teaching and Learning with Technology Symposium.

Applications for the 2017 Campus Life Award are due on Wednesday, March 22 at 11:59pm. If you are a Senior with a graduation date of December 2016, May 2017, or August 2017 you are eligible to apply for the 2017 Campus Life Award. The Campus Life Awards ceremony and reception is scheduled for the Saturday prior to Commencement.

Faculty are encouraged to take advantage of the internal funding initiatives housed within the provost’s office. 

Academic Challenge Funding
Awards for faculty-student teams (consisting of at least one faculty member and one student) involved in goal-oriented collaborative research, professional or creative activity.

Academic Mini-Grant Funding
Awards for tenured or tenure-track faculty to further faculty research, professional or creative activity.

The deadline is May 1st for the spring selection process.  These funds must be used between June 1 and November 30.
