We’re in the midst of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (NEDAW) and the focus this year is on getting screened. It is a good time to assess your own thoughts about eating, body weight, and exercise. Are your attitudes in a healthy range, or could you be at risk for disordered eating?

Maybe you are concerned about a friend who has recently become preoccupied with food, dieting, weight, and body image, and who seems depressed or irritable, and may be having difficulties with classes, work or friendships. These signs might indicate an eating disorder.

The Ithaca College chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary, or NRHH is looking to recruit new members.  All new members must be undergraduates living on campus who are nominated by a member of the IC community. It's that time of the semester, everyone is tired, nobody has motivation, midterms are approaching, and candy-gram sales are happening!  Zoom is an online web conferencing tool available to all students, faculty, and staff that can be used on any device. It's great for collaboration, screen sharing, teaching remotely, and more. In addition to some custom Webinars for IC done by Zoom Staff, DIIS is offering some hands-on in person workshops in the TLC, Friends 101.

Intro to Zoom Hands-on Training (TLC, Friends 101)

This in-person session will introduce participants to the Zoom Web Conferencing system at IC.  After a brief presentation and demonstration of key settings, features and common use cases, participants will be able to log into zoom, customize their profile settings, and join a meeting.  Events.ithaca.edu - Please click "I'm going" and download the calendar file.

Last November a Faculty Scholarship, Research and Creative Inquiry Fair was held where various faculty members presented their research or scholarly work in a lightning round format.

The event was very successful and we would like to repeat it with new presenters on Monday, April 3, 2017 from 3:30 - 5:00 pm.

The Chief Information Officer/Associate Vice President for Digital Instruction and Information Services search is well underway. The search committee encourages members of the campus community to share the position description or nominate potential candidates for this position. Nominations should be directed to our search consultants, Neumann Executive Search Partners, at IthacaCIO@neumannsearch.com.

Campus visits by finalists are anticipated to occur during the last two weeks of April 2017. The committee’s goal is to have the new CIO/AVP in place by June 2017.

 Naeem Inayatullah attended the 58th annual meeting of the International Studies Association in Baltimore, February 22-25.  His participation included the following: 

• “Out of Crushed Hope” for the roundtable, Disciplining International Relations: Race, Gender, and Eurocentrism in International Relations;
• discussant for the panel, National consciousness, which is not nationalism: anti-colonial imaginaries and postcolonial settlements; 
• panelist representing “Narrative Approaches” in the Critical Methods Café; and, 
• chair for the panel, Music and the Critique of Modern International Relations.

Habitat’s Women Build program invites all females to learn and practice construction skills in a welcoming, friendly, positive environment.  Training sessions are hands-on and last approximately one hour, enough time to test the tools and ask lots of questions without taking up your entire evening.  Girls ages 14 and up are also welcome to join in!  Habitat for Humanity hopes participants will put their skills to good use by volunteering on a Habitat job site, making a difference by helping them construct decent, affordable homes right here in our community.
