The Department of Education and the School of Music at Ithaca College are hosting a Virtual Symposium on Culturally Responsive Teaching: Making a Difference in Music and Education. This virtual conference brings together national and local experts on music education, culturally responsive teaching, and educational equity. It is with heavy hearts that we remember Dr. Sue-Je Gage, an associate professor of anthropology who died unexpectedly last weekend.

On Wednesday, May 13, there will be a virtual memorial service to honor our colleague and friend. This service will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. and is open to all staff, faculty, students, and alumni. Attendees are also encouraged to bring a candle to this virtual gathering space.

There have been many questions around student employment, and we wanted to provide an update as the academic year comes to a close.  For this summer, students can be hired and/or remain in their positions if the work can be performed remotely.  Newly hired students, who have not previously worked at the college, will still need to go through the new hire process via an NSEP session which will be presented remotely until further notice. These sessions will become available for registration beginning Monday, May 18th.

2020 Summer Hours Schedule

Summer Hours will begin Friday, May 22, 2020, and continue through August 7, 2020. During this period, full-time employees will work two fewer hours (37-1/2 hours reduced to 35-1/2, 40 hours reduced to 38 hours) and receive their usual compensation. Ithaca College’s official business hours will end at 3:00 p.m. on Fridays instead of 5:00 p.m. This year, there will be 12 Fridays on which the official hours will be reduced by two hours.
