The First Bomber Weekend Committee is looking for staff, faculty and students to participate in the planning process for Fall 2021. First Bomber weekend will take place September 3rd- September 6th. The committee will work collaboratively to plan events for all students over the long weekend. If you are interested in joining the committee, we meet every Wednesday at 3pm starting June 2nd. To join, please fill out an interest form. If your office would like to host an event during First Bomber weekend in collaboration with the committee, please fill out the programming form. If you have questions regarding FBW you can contract eharrington@ithaca.edu

 Praneeta Mudaliar, Meaghan McElroy, and Jake Brenner co-authored an article titled, “The futility and fatality of incremental action: motivations and barriers among undergraduates for environmental action that matters” in the Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences. This article is based on data collected by 93 undergraduate students enrolled in an ICC class called Environmental Crisis: Causes and Solutions that Praneeta and Jake teach. Students conducted 143 interviews on the pro-environmental actions of their peers at Ithaca College as well as the motivations and barriers to pro-environmental actions.

Assistant Professor of ENVS, Praneeta Mudaliar, was invited by the Polycentricity Virtual Conference, International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC) to moderate a panel on “Equity and Inclusion in Polycentric Regimes.” Praneeta moderated the panel on May 17. Register today for Communication, Culture and Rhetoric offered online during Summer Session I (June 1- July 2) and learn how analyzing these questions and more can lead to a better understanding of popular culture and how it can affect one’s sense of self.

This web/online course investigates the rhetorical dimensions of the longest-running sitcom in America, The Simpsons. Students will learn how signs and symbols influence us through a process called rhetoric.

I am pleased to share with the campus community that based on a successful semi-finalist interview process, in late April the search committee recommended four strong finalists for vice president for finance and administration to the president. All four finalists had the opportunity to meet in person and in virtual formats with the president and the search committee. They also met with a large number of campus stakeholders, including members of the Senior Leadership Team, the Division of Finance and Administration, and the Institutional Effectiveness and Budget Committee (IEBC); the Executive Committees of the Faculty Council, Staff Council, and Student Governance Council; and other leaders across the college.

The President Shirley M.
