Want to stay involved in the South Hill community over the summer? South Hill Elementary School has a volunteering opportunity to help maintain a veggie garden at the school during the summer. Students will work in teams to help with garden maintenance including weeding, watering, and harvesting. This IC + SHE Garden Partnership Program runs from June 27 - August 20, 2021. Students will be asked to help for three weeks during the summer with each week requiring at least one trip to the garden to complete caretaking activities lasting about 1 hour. Are you interested? The IC Food Sharing Cabinet is in need of summer volunteers to be Cabinet Caretakers! Volunteers will redistribute food from the IC Pantry to the Food Sharing Cabinet and complete general caretaking tasks (cleaning, organizing, etc.). This summer opportunity is a once a week commitment with caretaking activities taking about 20-30 minutes each shift. Cabinet Caretakers join a small community of fellow IC community members who are dedicated to campus food security efforts. This is a great way to stay connected to your IC community. Interested volunteers can contact Elizabeth Jesch at ejesch@ithaca.edu What is the IC Food Sharing Cabinet? This cabinet is a small food pantry open to all IC community members to take or donate non-perishable food and personal care products. You can visit this blue cabinet outside Muller Chapel.

As we begin to wrap-up this spring semester, we are already looking forward to welcoming our new and returning students to South Hill in the fall. We are anticipating a move-in to the residence halls that looks and feels a little closer to what we have traditionally done in the past, which has always been an incredible way to welcome our students to campus. Submitted on behalf of Provost La Jerne Terry Cornish, Ph.D., Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs: As an update to the message recently sent our regarding Dana Professorship applications, we are expanding our offering to three new professorships and extending the deadline to May 14, 2021 for applications. Candidates must complete all materials (i.e. application form, current CV, narrative and references) and send them to mataylor@ithaca.edu by May 14, 2021. A selection committee consisting of one representative from each School will review applications and make recommendations for approval to the Provost. Awards will be announced no later than June 1, 2021. Three professorships to begin in AY 2021-22 will be awarded.
