On Friday, April 30th, at 7 p.m., the On the Verge reading series, in collaboration with the New Voices Literary Festival, will present a Zoom-based performance of a new play by visiting author Gina Femia. The Virtuous Fall of the Girls from Our Lady of Sorrows is about a group of girls at a Catholic high school who decide to stage their own sequel to Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, entitled M4M2, eliciting consternation from their teachers. Virtuous Fall is a moving, funny and poignant coming-of-age tale about young people finding the courage to embrace their evolving selves.

The Tompkins County Health Department (TCHD) will be hosting a pair of open COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics for any individuals 18 years of age and older on Thursday, April 29. Both clinics will be distributing the Johnson & Johnson one-dose vaccine which was previously allocated to Tompkins County. This is the perfect opportunity for members of the IC community to get fully immunized prior to the completion of the spring semester!

A blue Mutual Aid Food Sharing Cabinet is now at IC! Located outside Muller Chapel, this cabinet is a small food pantry open to all IC community members to take or donate non-perishable food items and personal care products. All are welcome to utilize the cabinet or leave items 24/7. 

What can you do to help? Please consider bringing a non-perishable food or personal care item with you the next time you’re on-campus.

Assistant Professor, Praneeta Mudaliar, co-authored an op-ed on International Climate Change Negotiations with Associate Professor, Prakash Kashwan at the University of Connecticut. Ithaca College is looking for volunteers on May 8th to have a presence in the community and provide support to students on a day that in the past has typically involved mass gatherings, most commonly known as Kendall Day. Volunteer's will be stationed at different locations around Pennsylvania Ave and Kendall Street. The main goal of volunteers is to redirect people going to Kendall and Pennsylvania  offering alternative options and providing support. As a community we have worked very hard to keep COVID-19 cases low, those that volunteer will be helping to keep our community safe. . Volunteers will be in pairs, you are welcome to request to be with another person. Volunteers will be provided with vests, masks and training on how to manage different situations. They will also be provided with backup support if it is needed. Each shift will be a total of two hours.

Samantha Brandal, Meredith Burke, Stevie Malenowski, and Alexander Paredes-Ruíz presented research at the Western/Central New York Regional Meeting of Phi Alpha Theta, the national honors society, on April 24th. The conference occurred remotely via Zoom and was hosted by SUNY Geneseo.  Jonathan Ablard, faculty sponsor of the Ithaca College Phil Alpha Theta chapter, served as a moderator.
