Members of the Ithaca College Habitat for Humanity and the varsity rowing team will join up to raise funds with the annual "Row for Humanity."  A row-a-thon will take place this Friday, January 30, from 8:15 am until 5:30 pm in the North Foyer of the Campus Center.  Participating members will be rowing on ergometers throughout the day to raise awareness and money for Habitat builds and the Crew activities.

All faculty planning to conduct research or classroom activity involving live vertebrate animals for research and/or teaching must obtain prior approval from the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee before undertaking that activity. This committee provides federally-mandated oversight of all activities that have a direct impact on the well-being of animals.

Maria DiFrancesco, associate professor of Spanish in the Department of
Modern Languages and Literatures, has been elected as the second vice
president of the Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA). An
inauguration ceremony will occur at the next NeMLA Convention in
Toronto, Canada, to be celebrated in April 2015. After serving one
year as second vice president, DiFrancesco will advance to first vice
president, and then president.

Associate Professor Elizabeth Bergman, aging studies, will be presenting “Learning Outside of the (Classroom) Box: Experiential Learning Opportunities for Undergraduate Gerontology Students” at the 41st annual meeting of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE) in Nashville, TN. Her presentation will highlight several recent specific examples of projects and initiatives with an experiential component carried out by faculty and staff in IC’s Gerontology Institute. Co-authors of this presentation include Mary Ann Erickson, associate professor and chair of aging studies; Rhoda Meador, director of the institute; and Christine Pogorzala, assistant professor.
