In the talk, Mr. Gonzalez-Conty analyzed Tomas Gutierrez Alea's 1968 "Memories of Underdevelopment," and its influence on the subsequent fifty years of Cuban cinematic history. (135 words) Ithaca Area Under Tornado Watch Until 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7Contributed by David Maley on 10/07/13 The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Ithaca and surrounding areas in effect until 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7. A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms producing tornadoes in and close to the watch area. Those living in watch areas are advised to monitor weather reports for a possible upgrade to a Tornado Warning, which means that a tornado is indicated by radar or sighted by trained storm spotters. "Chocolate in the Chapel" - For all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) and allied students to meet each other, our campus chaplains, and students from the chapel communities - Wednesday October 9, 4-6pm in Muller Chapel.
Habitat for Humanity's annual 5K, Habidash, is this Saturday, October 12th! Habidash is both an IC Spirit Week and Alumni Weekend event.

The Sustainability Café on Monday, October 7th will feature Michelle Kortenaar presenting “Educating and Empowering Families to Use Science in Shaping a Sustainable Future.” The Café will be held in Center for Natural Sciences Room 112 at 4:00PM, in conjunction with the Environmental Seminar. The Fall 2013 Sustainability Café/Environmental Seminar series is focused on the concept of “Citizens + Community = Healthy Environment.” 
The Eastman School of Music, in conjunction with The Juilliard School and Ithaca College, will host the 8th Annual Upstate NY Music College Fair on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Would you like to know some of the fundamentals of Buddhist meditation practice?
On Wednesday, October 9, 7pm, Jeff Cohen, the director of the Ithaca College Park Center for Independent Media, will speak about his participation in an August fact-finding delegation to Israel and the West Bank at the Unitarian Church Annex, 208 E. Buffalo St. He will also show the short film My Neighborhood, which was produced by Just Vision in 2012, and engage in a “far-reaching Q&A session.”
