IC Constitution Day 2013 features “Reproductive Justice: Celebrating and Defending ‘ROE’ at 40” Tuesday, September 24Contributed by Beth Harris on 09/15/13
The significance of the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade (1973) for women’s health care, reproductive justice, and the scope of democracy will be addressed at the IC Constitution Day forum from the perspectives of an internationally renown feminist theorist who began her academic career the year that Roe was decided and a doctor who is beginning her medical career now. Dr. Zillah Eisenstein and Dr. Sarah Eisenstein Stumbar are the featured speakers at “Reproductive Justice: Celebrating and Defending ‘ROE’ at 40,” 7:30-9pm, in Emerson B.

(110 words) Jason Harrington Screens Film in Australia and CanadaContributed by Melissa Gattine on 09/15/13 Jason Harrington's latest film, Breathing In, was included in the "Best of International Films" screening at the Canberra Short Film Festival in Australia and at Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival in Canada this weekend. Harrington is an assistant professor in the Department of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies. Breathing In is a creation story, comprised of modern takes on ancient myths, images borrowed from religious iconography, and pagan symbolism. It follows the journey of a woman through the stages of creation as symbols morph into worlds and planets are eaten by dragons. Read more . . .
