Janice Levy, professor in the Department of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies, was among three recipients of the 39th annual Light Work Grants in Photography. Levy submitted work from her series “Welcome to Saudi Arabia,” photographs taken during her 2010-2011 sabbatical in Riyadh, KSA.

Light Work was founded as an artist-run, non-profit organization in 1973. The Light Work Grants in Photography program is a part of Light Work’s “ongoing effort to provide support and encouragement to artists working in photography” and is one of the longest-running photography fellowship programs in the country.

The Park Center for Independent Media's 2013 Izzy Award ceremony honoring Mother Jones will be nationally telecast in a one-hour program on the satellite channel Free Speech TV. The award was presented on campus in April.

To watch the broadcast, tune in Free Speech TV (DISH Network channel 9415; DirecTV channel 348 and www.freespeech.org) on Monday, July 29 at 10 pm ET; Wednesday, July 31 at 10 am ET; Thursday, Aug 1 at 6 am ET; Friday, Aug. 2 at 3am ET; and Sunday, Aug. 4 at 4 pm ET.

"Breathing In," a film by Jason Harrington, assistant professor in the Department of Media Arts, Sciences and Studies, was accepted to screen at Brooklyn's famed Animation Block Party this weekend.

The Animation Block Party is NYC's premiere animation festival dedicated to exhibiting all genres of the world's best independent, professional and student animation.
