On Monday, March 18, the City of Ithaca Department of Public Works will begin its annual spring cleaning of all city streets, weather permitting. The schedule calls for some streets on South Hill to be among the first affected. Daily work areas will be posted as “NO PARKING” zones 24 hours in advance of the cleaning. All vehicles remaining on the street after 7:00 a.m. on the day of the scheduled cleaning will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.

As part of their ongoing Discussion Series, The Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity (CSCRE) is hosting a talk on Monday, March 18, by George Sanchez, an expert on ethnic interactions within communities. His talk, “The Power and Possibilities of Multiracial Communities: Bridges and Borders in Boyle Heights, California,” will be held at 7 p.m. in Emerson Suites, Phillips Hall. It is free and open to the public.

The Fund is a national non-profit that provides support for environmental groups across the country.  In addition to hiring graduating seniors for career positions, we're hiring students to work on summer campaigns for the Sierra Club, Human Rights Campaign, and Environment America.  This year we are hiring for over 60 offices across the country.

 David Weil, Director of Enterprise Application Services in ITS, has been accepted to the prestigious EDUCAUSE Leading Change Institute class of 2013.  The Institute is an intensive week-long residential seminar about "leadership in action" that explores higher education challenges, empowering librarians and information technologists to initiate conversations and take action on issues of importance not just to their individual institutions, but to the entire higher education community.

Dave was selected following a rigorous application and selection process, and was also awarded a “Leadership Through New Communities of Knowledge” scholarship to cover all program costs.  Congratulations Dave!

Relay for Life 2013 is on Saturday, March 23 from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. in the A&E Center!

Cancer never sleeps, so for this one night, neither should we.

Help us celebrate those who have beat cancer, remember those who have lost the battle and fight back for those who are still fighting.

On March 6, 2013 the Finger Lakes District of the New York Physical Therapy Association (NYPTA) held their spring meeting at the Ithaca  College - Rochester Center.  In addition to a student social and business meeting, PT Club Presidents Kaitlin Clark (Ithaca) and Kristen Carey (Nazareth) collaborated on the first student organized meeting with presentations from Ithaca and Nazareth graduate PT student.  The event was well attended by students, clinicians and faculty.

Chilean poet Cecilia Vicuña brings her distinctive improvisatory style as the first of three Distinguished Visiting Writers to read on campus this semester. Vicuña is the author of twenty books of poetry and the co-editor ofThe Oxford Book of Latin American Poetry.
