The Latin American Studies program invites you to the third event in this semester's Latin American Studies Speakers Series.  Ronaldo Lec, Director of the Permaculture Institute of Mesoamerica, will visit campus on Tuesday, October 16.  He will give two presentations: "Myths and Realities of the Maya Calendar" at 12:10 in Textor 101 and "Food and Sustainability" at 7:00 pm in Williams 225.

Ithaca, NY –Ithaca College Theatre’s fall musical is “Legally Blonde,” with book by Heather Hach, and music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin. Performances will be held in the Hoerner Theatre in Dillingham Center on Oct. 30, Nov. 1, 7, 9 and 10 at 8 p.m., with 2 p.m. matinee performances offered on Nov. 4 and 10. There will be a free talk-back presentation following the Nov. 10 matinee.

Passwords and Securing Your Accounts - A secure password is the first line of defense against any kind of account compromise: removing the ability to guess or brute-force the password eliminates the origin of many hacking attempts. The IC requirements for secure passwords (letters, numbers, and punctuation) can be accomplished in surprisingly easy ways that also add further layers of security. When at all possible, we strongly recommend using different passwords for every site; that way, if one is compromised, the others remain secure.

Joshua Bonnetta, assistant professor in the Department of Media Arts, Sciences and Studies, has been invited for a second term to serve as a Composer-in-Residence in Electroacoustic Studio ALPHA at the Visby International Centre for Composers in Sweden from December 21, 2012 until January 18, 2013.

The Visby International Centre for Composers (VICC) – on the Island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea – is a working and meeting place for composers, dedicated to promoting contemporary music through residencies, concerts, conferences, seminars, educational and co-operation projects – the only specialized centre of its kind within the International Society of Contemporary Music (ISCM), of which VICC is a member.

Bonnetta an interdisciplinary artist working across film, video and sound will be creating a series of new electroacoustic compositions for audio-visual performance, theatrical exhibition, installation and forthcoming musical publications in 2013.
