There's still time to register for the Ithaca College Gerontology Institute workshop, "The Importance of Recreation throughout the Lifespan: Playgrounds for Elders." This workshop is scheduled for Wed., April 11, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Longview in Ithaca, and will be presented by Michael Cohen, who has lived in Ithaca since 1980, where he has designed and built playgrounds for children and elders.

Cost of the workshop is $20 ($12 for retired people). Ithaca College faculty and students may attend at no charge, but must still register. To register, go to https://www.ithaca.edu/gps/gerontology/registration or contact Ithaca College's Graduate and Professional Studies at (607) 274-3143.

"Working" and American Labor

The national unemployment rate as of December was 8.5 percent. To put it in perspective, 8.5% of the number of enrolled students at IC last semester would be 575 people. That's not a small number here at IC, and 8.5% percent means a lot of unemployed Americans.

CPR and AED Certification

Interested in certifying or recertifying your CPR/AED before the summer job opportunities?  The CPR and AED certification class will be April 17th, 18th and 19th from 7:30pm to 10pm.    

The CPR and AED cost will be $47 for those who do not need a pocket mask, and $65 for those who need a pocket mask.  Checks should be made out to Ithaca College.

The new CPR and AED materials will be taught according to the American Red Cross standards.
