Career Services is pleased to welcome FDM Group , an international IT services company, to campus on October 4, 2011.  FDM will discuss job opportunities and their FDM academy, a paid training program.  Graduates of the FDM Academy receive job placement with companies such as:  HSBC, Barclays Capital, UBS, RBS, Deutshe Bank, Goldman Sachs, Citi, and Merrill Lynch.

Students who wish to attend the Athletics and Events Center dedication on Saturday, October 15, 2011, may purchase tickets at Alumni Hall between now and this Friday, September 30.

Tickets are available to all IC students at the discounted price of $40 each. Just come to the Office of Alumni Relations, located in Alumni Hall (near the main campus entrance), during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. You can pay via cash, credit card, or a check made out to Ithaca College.

On October 15, the event will begin with an outdoor dedication at 6:30 p.m., followed by a festive reception inside the facility, a candlelit dinner, and a concert by Orleans, a well-known pop/rock band fronted by Larry Hoppen '71. Our host and emcee for the evening will be Broadway performer Eric Jordan Young '93.

With a buffet of food always a short distance away, it can be difficult to manage your food intake to maintain a healthy body weight. Being mindful of your eating habits is a discipline worth learning during your college years. Are you eating when you feel hungry, or for other reasons? Are you aware of how many plates of food you are consuming in the dining halls? Are you familiar with your body's signals that tell you when you've had enough? Next time you fill your plate, use the "My Plate" graphic as a reference for recommended food group portions.

To commemorate Constitution Day 2011, on Tuesday, September 27 at 7:30PM in Textor Hall Room 102, Ithaca College will present renowned political observer John Nichols, speaking on “First Amendment Remedies: The Constitution as a Call to Action”. 

“James Madison’s Constitution calls us to action for peace, economic justice, and human values—not corporate values,” argues John Nichols. The political writer for The Nation will examine the U.S. Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling and the challenge to historic understandings of our rights that is posed by the concept of "corporate personhood." He will also discuss the constitutional underpinnings of the recent struggles in Wisconsin, Ohio, Maine and other states to defend labor rights and local democracy.

Two short films by John Scott, associate professor in the Department of Television-Radio, have been selected to be screened at the Coolidge Shorts for the month of September at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA.

Both films, One Art and Sandpiper, are adaptations from Elizabeth Bishop’s Poems. Cinema, Photography, and Media Arts Assistant Professor Jason Harrington created animation for both projects.

Sandpiper and One Art have also been selected to screen at the Co-Kisser Poetry Film Festival in Minneapolis on October 8, 2011. One Art is currently part of an art gallery exhibition at The ViewPoint Gallery in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
