Affinity groups are designed to be a safe place where both staff and faculty may speak on common interests and provide an opportunity to seek and support one another.

The Working Parents Affinity Group (WPAG) provides different perspectives on integrating work and our families as working professionals. This group is co-facilitated by two moms who work here on campus and who are interested in developing a resourceful place for other working parents to come together and share with one another based on ideas that YOU provide!!

Healthy Living for Musicians will host a Pathways training session especially for music students on Tuesday, September 13th at 6:15 PM in Hockett Family Recital Hall. This session is required for all freshmen to attend, but all School of Music students are invited to attend this session as well.

Pathways is a program offered by the Ithaca College Office of Counseling and Psychological Services. This mental health crisis prevention and intervention program teaches students to identify a potential mental health crisis, initiate a conversation with someone at risk, ask directly about suicidal thoughts, and make referrals to appropriate resources.

Professor Carla Stetson's work was accepted into the 2011 Southern Tier Biennial Art Exhibit.  This juried show opens September 17th at 3 pm at the Olean Public Library and Jamestown Community College's Center Gallery in Olean, New York and runs through October 22. 

Deborah Rifkin, Asst. Professor Music Theory, has published an article about music pedagogy. Deborah Rifkin recently published, "A Revised Taxonomy for Music Learning" with co-author Philip Stoecker (Hofstra University) in The Journal of Music Theory Pedagogy. This article proposes an adapted learning taxonomy geared specifically for music classes. Using insights from recent advances in cognitive research and perception studies, our taxonomy caters to music learning by accommodating the time-sensitive nature of performed arts. The article introduces the taxonomy, explains its basis in cognitive research, and describes several applications of it in classroom exercises for
undergraduate music majors.

TCAT, Inc., working in partnership with Ithaca College, will offer expanded late‑night service on Route 11/90 beginning Aug. 18 for a trial period spanning the 2011‑2012 academic year. The aim of the new service on the Route 11/90 is to give Ithaca College students and others more opportunities to travel between campus, downtown or Cornell University at night and in the early‑morning hours on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
