The campaign, dubbed “Ready,” will serve to increase awareness and ensure a consistent message and image for the College. Students may receive 0-2 variable credits through the course Musical Theater Rehearsal and Performance. Guitarists and String players are much needed for this year's productions "Light in the Piazza" (fall) and "Working" (spring). (325 words) Founding Communications Dean John Keshishoglou Passes AwayContributed by Melissa Gattine on 08/24/11 Submitted on behalf of Dean Diane Gayeski: It is with great sadness that I share the news that John Keshishoglou, founding dean of the Roy H. Park School of Communications and an internationally recognized communications consultant, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, at the age of 79 after a lengthy illness. Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, at St Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, 120 West Seneca Street, Ithaca. Keshishoglou—known as “Dr. Kesh” to generations of IC communications students—came to the college in 1965 as chairman of the Department of Television-Radio and director of the Instructional Resources Center. When the School of Communications was created in 1971 he was elected dean, a post he held until 1979. Read more . . . Strings Off And Running (SOAR) Program Awarded Grants by the National String Project Consortium, American String Teachers Association, New York American String Teachers Association and Mu Phi EpsilonContributed by Molly O'Shea Polk on 08/24/11 The Strings Off And Running program is Directed by Julie Along Carr and is offered to students at Cortland's St. Mary's School. IC Junior music education majors are involved in the instruction process as part of their field experience and string pedagogy classes. Around 60 students in grades pre-K through 6 are involved in the program each year. Read more . . .
