Computer Science Department faculty member Ali Erkan has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship for the 2011-2012 academic year to carry out his sabbatical research in Istanbul, Turkey (in affiliation with KOC University). The focus of his work is to create an open source Geographic Information System for humanists interested in international collaborations and scholarly information exchange.  Please join me in congratulating Ali on this significant accomplishment.

Alex Krasser '09 (Acting) played the title character in Billy Blythe, a folk opera about Bill Clinton's youth. The opera, composed by Bonnie Montgomery and based on Clinton's 2004 memoir, My Life, has been featured in numerous places, including The New Yorker, the BBC, Time, and USA Today.

ITS will begin the Oracle software upgrade to Parnassus Financials and Human Resources system and will be unavailable beginning TODAY-Wednesday, July 6th at 4:00pm. The software upgrade is expected to run through the weekend and should be available to the campus on Tuesday, July 12th.  Users will be notified when Parnassus is available via email to all Faculty and Staff and will also be posted as a Top Story in Intercom.

Are you knowledgeable on a topic that could be beneficial to student leaders and student organizations? 

The Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs is looking for faculty/staff/students who are willing to present a workshop for the Leading @ IC track part of the Student Leadership Institute.

Volunteer to share your expertise with the Ithaca College community. Some examples of presentations include: running a program on a budget, fundraising, and how to make a smooth executive board transition.

Leading @ IC is a new track developed this semester in the Student Leadership Institute. Unlike the other tracks, Leading @ IC is specifically designed to improve leadership skills and development within a student organization. The target audience for these workshops is student organization members.

Ray Boone, retired faculty member from the department of Physical Therapy passed away recently. Ray worked at Ithaca College for 32 years (retiring in 2007) starting in 1975 at the Ithaca College Bronx campus. In 1990, Ray was pivotal in organizing the move from the Bronx to the Rochester River Road campus. While in Rochester Ray served as the first Planning Unit Director, hired our initial faculty and staff, and implemented, first the MSPT curriculum and then served as Curriculum Coordinator during the implementation of the DPT. He also oversaw major facility improvements of the River Road campus.
