"Troica is a unique ensemble of trumpet, saxophone, and piano, whose members are well-known performers and pedagogues in their field, as well as faculty members at Ithaca College.  While the ensemble's name is derived from the Russian work troika, meaning a governing body of three equal individuals, the spelling of the ensemble's name using the letters IC instead of IK, refers to their Ithaca College (i.e., IC) affiliation."

VIC Radio is planning its 25th annual 50-Hour Marathon for April 15-17. Junior Adam Girgenti and senior Mike D’Agostino will be forgoing sleep for 50 straight hours to raise money for Ithaca Community Harvest, while broadcasting at various locations around town.

VIC’s 50-Hour Marathon has raised over $10,000 for various local not-for-profits in the past three years alone. From its humble beginnings as a simple bowling party to the station’s biggest event of the year, 50-Hour Marathon is a fun-filled way to make a difference in the community.

Stephen Tropiano, associate professor in the Department of Television-Radio and director of the Los Angeles Program, has published a book on the 1972 film, "Cabaret," as part of Limelight Editions's new "Music on Film" series.

The book chronicles the history of "Cabaret," beginning with Christopher Isherwood's "Berlin Stories," which were the adapted into the 1951 play and 1955 film, "I Am A Camera," and the 1966 stage musical on which the Academy-Award winning film was based.

He is currently completing a second book for the series on the 1978 film "Grease."

 

Students can spend the summer in Korea, taking two unique courses: "Cross-Cultural Documentary Research & Production" and "Seminar: Media Industry in Korea."

This is the six year Prof. Changhee Chun has led this collaboration with the Hanyang International Summer School (HISS). Ithaca College students will take theses courses with Hanyang University students and other students from around the world in order to maximize cultural exchange.

Over the past two weeks the Red Cross has Readied 17 standby shelters, responded to the needs of 12 families displaced by recent flooding and mobilized 70 volunteers to offer assistance locally in our region. One way that we all can help one another is by giving blood and making sure that the Blood Supply doesn't get low. You can do that by signing up to donate Blood on April 12 in the Fitness Center from 9 t0 4 pm. There will be plenty  of Red Cross works so Please help us meet our goal of 250 units.

Ed Tech Day 2011 is Thursday, March 24th.  Stop by the Emerson Suites and visit exhibits from over 50 national and regional technology vendors, including Adobe, Apple, AT&T, Dell, Google and HP.  Attend one of the 45 seminars on topics ranging from teaching with technology to cloud computing. Visit the college showcase to see how technology is being used in and out of the classroom on campus.

Avon Voices is a global online Singing Talent Search for women and Songwriting Competition for women and men. In celebration of its 125th Anniversary, Avon has invited people everywhere to join a worldwide movement that unites and inspires through the universal language of music.  Out of over 6,000 entries, 20 finalists were selected from Jessica's region (USA, Canada, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic) were chosen to move on to the next round.  Only 197 were chosen worldwide.
