Many people enjoy drinking alcohol, and have positive experiences with it. On the other hand, alcohol use can seriously impact a student's academic success, athletic performance, and decision-making abilities, and may also cause unwanted weight gain from added calories. Strategies for cutting back on alcohol use may include writing out the pros and cons about your drinking habits, keeping track of how much you drink, setting personal limits on how much and how often you drink, or finding alternative ways to manage stress or handle social situations. For more nonjudgmental tips, worksheets, and information on changing substance use patterns, visit the Center for Health Promotion website at: www.ithaca.edu/sacl/healthpromotion/alcoholanddrugs/
