This Friday, 17 September at 7:00 P.M. in Hockett Recital hall, faculty member Jean Radice will present Johann Sebastian Bach’s complete Opus 1, the Clavier-Exercise of 1731 in a collaborative recital with colleagues and former and current students from her harpsichord studio in the School of Music.

The program will feature two magnificent harpsichords built respectively by Frank Hubbard and William Dowd. Both instruments will be tuned to the 18th-century temperament devised by the philosopher and musician Jean-Jacques Rosseau. Participating performers will be: Jean C. Radice, Mary Holzhauer, Mark A. Radice, Jonathan Riss, Michael Gaertner, and Elena Nezhdanova.

A Night & Day Cabaret!

IC Triple Threat Theatre is producing a cabaret this semester! We'll be showcasing music from numerous shows in a cabaret-style production created by you!  The theme is Night & Day, and we're asking for submissions from people interested in directing 2-3 musicals numbers that deal with our theme. 

Submissions should include your resume, the number of actors needed, and a rough estimate of pit members needed.  Submissions are due this Friday, September 17th by midnight.

Travel Services would like to remind you that in April 2010 Ithaca College chose to begin using Marathon Travel as the College’s new travel service provider.   

Recently, Marathon Travel’s parent company, Travel Guard, announced a new relationship between themselves and Chartis Inc. Recognizing the strength of the Travel Guard name, Chartis made the decision to launch the Travel Guard brand globally for all of its worldwide travel insurance and assistance operations, including Marathon Travel. Therefore, Marathon Travel is changing its name to Travel Guard Chartis - Business Travel Services to reflect this partnership.

Luke Keller, associate professor of physics, has the lead article in the October issue
of Sky & Telescope magazine. Keller and co-author Juergen Wolf, scientist at the NASA Ames Research Center, describe the first flights of the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) and detail operation of the facility, a large telescope mounted in a 747 aircraft. The article also describes plans for using the new observatory over the next 20 years.
