Food Pantry Open Hours and Call for VolunteersContributed by Doreen Hettich-Atkins on 10/10/19 The on-campus Food Pantry will be open this week on Tuesday October 8th from 6-7 pm and Friday October 11th from 4-5:30pm. Fall hours will be every Tuesday from 6-7 pm and every Friday from 4-5:30 pm. The Pantry is located in the DeMotte Room (you can enter by going down the stairs to the left of the information desk in Phillips Hall or by using the back entrance to Phillips Hall closest to the upper quads and near the stairs that go up to the academic quad). The Pantry is open to any and all members of the IC community. There are no qualifications for this program. Read more . . . (516 words) UNC Chapel Hill Presents a Staged Reading of a Korean Play Translated into English by Walter Chon (Theatre Arts)Contributed by Kelsey Dunne on 10/10/19 Walter Byongsok Chon, Assistant Professor of Dramaturgy and Theatre Studies, is invited to the conference Theatrical Translation as Creative Process: A Conference Festival at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, for the staged reading of his English translation of Sam-Shik Pai’s Korean play INCHING TOWARDS YEOLHA. At the conference, from October 10 – 13, he will also attend a rehearsal of the play and participate in a conversation about the translation process and audience reception of the piece. Villeda will break down an ICTV news broadcast and offer critique on the episode. Bring along your own broadcast work (packages, reels, anchoring) for him to review as well. The event will also feature a brief Q&A. Food and refreshments will also be provided! Since joining NBC 4, Villeda has covered impactful national stories for the New York Tri-State area. Before working at NBC New York, Villeda reported for KXAS in Dallas-Fort Worth where he won two Emmys for his reporting, WFSB in Hartford, Conn. and WSTM in Syracuse. Shelter-in-Place Drill Friday Afternoon at Hill Center and the Center for Health SciencesContributed by Elyse Nepa on 10/10/19 Ithaca College will hold a shelter-in-place drill for the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance in Hill Center and the Center for Health Sciences on the afternoon of Friday, October 11. These buildings will be completely closed to the public from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on that date. Any incoming phone calls to offices during that time will be forwarded to voicemail. Only those buildings will be involved in the drill. The rest of the campus will be unaffected. Read more . . . (38 words) It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing on September 25 of John D. Stanton, retired Registrar at Ithaca College, following a long illness. John retired in 2001 after 27 years of service to IC. He was always good natured, collaborative, and was a respected member of the college community.
