Associate professor of politics Naeem Inayatullah presented "Why Do Some People Think They Know What Is Good for Others?" at Vassar College on April 16, 2009.

This Saturday, April 25, Water for Sudan, Ithaca College's chapter of the international service organization that seeks to raise money to sponsor fresh water wells in Sudan, will hold a 5K Run/Walk. Pre-registration will be held until Friday afternoon, and race-day registration begins at 10am.

Tong Soon Lee, professor of ethnomusicology at Emory University, will speak on "Music, Soundscape, and Cultural Sustainability" at May's Finger Lakes Project workshop. Tong Soon's research focuses on Southeast and East Asian music, with particular interests in Singapore and the musical practices of diasporic Asian communities.

He has worked with the Islamic community in Singapore on the religious significance in the musical processes of the Islamic call to prayer, on performing arts and nationalism in Singapore, and with the Chinese community in England on Cantonese opera and issues of migration and multiculturalism in Britain.

Featuring the American premiere of a work by Israeli-American composer Sharon Farber, the Ithaca College Women's Chorale will give a free concert on Sunday, April 26, at 4:00 p.m. in Ford Hall on the Ithaca College campus.

Janet Galván will conduct the concert, which will also feature music of Mendelssohn, Pergolesi, Sáez, Nelson, Ames, and Powell.
