To kick off the nationwide observance of "Focus the Nation," Ithaca College will host a screening of a live, interactive webcast called "The 2% Solution" on Wednesday, January 30, at 8:00 p.m. in the School of Business room 111. Join Stanford University climate scientist Stephen Schneider, sustainability expert Hunter Lovins, green jobs pioneer Van Jones, and youth climate leaders for a one-hour discussion of global warming solutions. Audience members can even weigh in with cell phone voting.

The Tenure Seminar series in Fall 2007 involved 40 people in at least some of the sessions. We had seven useful conversations and I’ve put the handouts and my notes on the Center for Faculty Excellence website. Much of the conversation revolved around writing your own narrative, whether for a pre-tenure review, an overview of a section of the file, or the big ten-page personal statement in the tenure file.

Public Safety Alert

The Ithaca Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred on South Hill in the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 22. A man reported to police that he had been robbed at about 1:00 a.m. as he was walking on Giles Street, by two men who threatened him with a handgun. The suspects were last seen walking west on Giles Street toward Hudson Street.

In the event that a resident finds themselves lockout of their room or building, they are able to either retrieve a lock out key from the Area or Satellite Office located in the cluster of buildings they live in, or they can contact a staff member in an Area or Satellite Office (during their hours of business) or a Resident Assistant, who has the ability to gain access to keys that will allow them to key a resident into their room or their building.
