HomerConnect will be available for faculty to input grades beginning on Monday, December 18th. Only faculty who are attached to credit bearing sections of courses may enter grades. If there is a red text message at the top of the grade screen the section is non-gradable. Stephen Sweet's (Sociology) article "The Older Worker, Job Insecurity, and the New Economy" has been accepted for publication in the journal /Generations/. The article reports findings from Sweet's research on how families adjust careers in the face of job insecurity and job loss. Older workers commonly need to limit searches to harmonize with spouses' careers and children's lives, possess skill sets that may be mismatched to current opportunity structures, as well as face prospects of age discrimination. While retirement is a means of exiting the workforce, the majority of older insecure workers lack economic resources to use this as an option to adjust to job loss. Caroline Cox, director of major gifts, has announced her retirement, following a 22-year career here at the College. Her last day in the office will be January 4, although she will continue to work as a consultant for the Division of Institutional Advancement. Read more . . .
